Savvy Firms Have Understood the US Government’s Abilities to Access Private Files for Years, IT Expert Says

Manchester (PRWEB UK) 18 June 2013

Risk management is the key consideration when looking to take advantage of cloud services, and companies can greatly minimise the risks of facing future problems through thorough preparation, IT expert Adrian Spink has said in a new Find the Edge article.

His article comes following The Guardian’s revelations that the NSA has been routinely accessing and monitoring online communications, and mining data from companies like Google, Apple and Skype.

He suggests most large firms were already aware, or suspected, activities such as these were taking place, and questions whether the revelations actually change very much.

Williams uses the article to discuss the steps companies can take to protect their data when using cloud services.

He said: ‘Take the right precautions and youll prevent not only your cloud provider, but apparently now also the NSA (or MI5), from accidentally distributing your sensitive commercial information to all and sundry.

‘The important point is to understand the difference between data and information if managed properly, encrypted information turns into meaningless data and can then be cloud hosted.

‘On Google Drive, for example, there are a plethora of tools that will encrypt the files on the endpoint before uploading them.’

He points out that the issue with this approach is that changing provider can be difficult, and highlights the need for an exit strategy from day one.

Williams said: ‘Its not that easy to find examples of cloud services that give an absolute assurance that your data can be transferred and wiped when your contract is terminated.

‘Even if you migrate back into a traditional in-house data centre and your data was unencrypted, the NSA will be able to merrily trawl its way through your companys previous records for as long as it likes.

‘With cloud services, risk management is the name of the game, and preparation is the key.’

Kenny Goodman, founder of Find the Edge, said: “These revelations have dominated news coverage over the last week, and Adrian does a great job of explaining how they affect businesses that use cloud services or are considering using them.”

CMT Celebrates 30 Years of High-Tech Business Evolution

Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) May 22, 2013

Computer Media Technologies (CMT) opened its doors in the heart of the Silicon Valley in 1983, just as the first rudimentary notebook computers were trickling into the marketplace and the 3.5-inch floppy disk was a novel idea, still a year away from introduction.

The floppy disks heyday has come and gone, but CMT is celebrating its 30th anniversary today as a high-growth technology solutions provider that continues to evolve with the constantly changing IT industry. CMT CEO Kurt Klein has guided the companys progression from specializing in magnetic data storage media during the early days to its current aggressive launch into cloud computing, which has helped CMT grow its customer base by 40 percent in the past year.

Its nothing short of amazing to think about where CMT is today compared to its founding 30 years ago, said CMT CEO Kurt Klein. We have been able to evolve our business through the years to stay attuned to our customers needs, even as technology changes almost instantaneously today.

As technology continues to advance, one principle hasnt wavered for CMT we continue to focus on helping our customers increase productivity and devote more resources to their core business objectives by delivering leading-class, cost-effective IT solutions. Its thanks solely to the dedication of our tremendous employees and the loyalty of our customers, partners and distributors that we are celebrating a major milestone today.

To commemorate the anniversary, CMT and its employees are donating 30 pounds of food for each employee to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, more than 1,500 pounds total. CMT also supports the food bank, which provides food to an average of a quarter-million people each month, with an annual employee Thanksgiving food donation drive.

Its firmly engrained in our culture to support community charitable efforts, and the Second Harvest Food Bank performs incredibly important work to combat hunger in our area, Klein said. We are honored to help Second Harvest assist those who are struggling to put food on their tables.

CMT has accelerated its growth with the introduction of CMT Cloud Solutions in May 2012, which affords customers the freedom of choice to deploy enterprise and data storage solutions in the cloud, on-site and in hybrid environments. CMT has also enhanced partnerships with leading IT manufacturers and cloud solution providers such as Symantec, NetApp, Cisco, Quantum, Brocade, VMware, Savvis and PeakColo.

According to Klein, those partnerships have been crucial to CMTs growth over the years, especially as it has launched the cloud computing offerings in addition to its mainstay enterprise-class solutions.

We congratulate CMT on celebrating this 30th anniversary and continuing to provide our mutual customers with invaluable service and support, said John Eldh, Vice President, Americas Channel Sales, Symantec Corp. Symantec values our partnership with CMT and looks to many more years of mutual success.

CMT is an old-timer compared to Peak, but we share the same commitment to give our customers enterprise cloud solutions that are scalable, create true business value and meet the highest industry standards, said CEO Luke Norris of PeakColo, founded in 2006. We congratulate CMT on its 30th anniversary and look forward to building a partnership that will benefit customers for many years to come.

Vodien.com: Lessons Learned after 10 Years in the Web Hosting Business

Singapore (PRWEB) August 23, 2012

A web hosting business is not an easy thing to do since there is a lot of competition around. However, it looks like success can be achieved if you have got the best service and the best hosting systems for your clients. This is precisely what the Vodien web hosting company has proven, after the past ten years in the online web hosting business.

Ten years of business is considered a feat for any company, and the more so when it comes to the highly competitive world of web hosting. One of the lessons the hosting company has learnt is that the customer is always right when it comes to their demands in developing and hosting their website.

Since 2002, when Vodien Internet Solutions was still known as Vodien Studios, we were providing quality web design and web development services to our valued clients. And now that we have grown into a web hosting company, we are keeping up with the latest technology to keep up with the web hosting upgrades that need to be implemented to provide a high quality of service to our clients, says Bill Poh, founder of Vodien Internet Solutions.

Another lesson learnt by the web hosting company after ten years in the web hosting business, is that clients enquiries and support questions should be immediately responded to. This is important because issues always occur in the web hosting of any website, and clients need to have their website running smoothly. The professional support team of Vodien have always been there to solve these issues in the quickest time possible.

Besides this, Vodien has also realized that clients have different demands with regards to web hosting. That is why in the past ten years of their business, the web hosting company has also implemented different hosting offers for their clients. Some of these latest hosting offers are cloud hosting, complex web hosting and CDN hosting.

Moreover, since uptime is crucial for their clients website, the company provides 99% uptime guarantee to guarantee the availability of their clients websites, be it business or personal. Indeed, this is another reason why more and more customers have trusted Vodien for the past ten years.

It is no surprise that the Singapore web hosting company is the leading hosting company in Singapore. Even after ten years in the web hosting business, Vodien is not resting on its laurels, and is looking forward to continue to improve their professional web hosting services, to satisfy their clients in the years to come.
