NuoDB to Brief BBBT on the NuoDB Webscale Distributed Data Management System

Boulder, CO (PRWEB) July 28, 2014

On Wednesday, July 30, 2014, NuoDBs CTO, Seth Proctor, will provide a brief overview of NuoDB as a company, and then explain in detail the unique features/benefits of the NuoDB peer-to-peer architecture and distributed durable cache.

Changes wrought by the exponential growth of mobile devices, web-scale applications and cloud computing all call for new approaches in data management. I look forward to explaining how NuoDB offers a unique architecture specifically designed to tackle these challenges, said Mr. Proctor. A significant growth in healthcare costs is a major challenge faced by developed countries. Additionally, the growth in aging population and increasing incidences of chronic disorders will further increase the burden on the healthcare systems. This scenario demands a paradigm shift in healthcare systems, from paper-based models to electronic models, in an effort to cut healthcare costs and enhance quality care. The demand for clinical IT solutions for healthcare providers is increasing, with the growing requirement to electronically enter patient information. To meet this growing need, healthcare systems are looking forward to integrate their EHR solutions with CDSS and CPOE and knowledge-based CDSS solutions, which help in making accurate decisions at the point-of-care.

Knowledge-based CDSS has the capability to translate scientific knowledge into computer interpretable decision algorithms. This improves the management of diseases by selecting the appropriate dosage at the right time and also suggests significant recommendations while monitoring the drug therapy.

The market is segmented based on products, models, applications, delivery modes, components, and provider entity capacity. Based on products, the CDSS market is further segmented into integrated and standalone CDSS solutions. Of all the integrated solutions (EHR-CDSS, EHR-CDSS-CPOE, and CDSS-CPOE), EHR-CDSS-CPOE will be the fastest-growing market in the next five years. Factors accelerating the growth of this market are the presence of government initiatives to promote clinical IT solutions such as EHR, CDSS, and CPOE; growing pressure to curtail healthcare costs; and rising demand for quality care. Integrated CDSS solutions also help in reducing the incidences of medication errors and facilitate the easier integration of clinical data repositories with workflow systems.

The three most important delivery modes considered for the study are web-based, on-premises, and cloud computing. Owing to the growing need to meet the requirement of enhanced security and accessibility, the cloud computing mode of delivery is expected to grow at a brisk pace in the forecast period (20132018). Furthermore, cloud computing also reduces the burden on healthcare systems, as the need for an IT staff is eliminated.

Globally, the CDSS market will be driven by the growing pressure to reduce healthcare costs, growing patient consumerism for quality care, rising demand for analytical solutions, and government initiatives that promote the adoption of CDSS. The major bottlenecks for this market are the growing concerns over security, interoperability, integration challenges, costs incurred while integrating, problems in implementing CDSS solutions, alert fatigue, incomplete or poor quality of data entry, poor IT skills among staff, and poor financial support from governments in certain countries in Europe and Asia. Cloud computing models offer huge growth opportunities for CDSS vendors, globally. Also, large sized hospitals (>300 bed size) will be potential growth segments for CDSS companies in the coming years.

The key players in this market are Agfa Healthcare (Belgium), athenahealth, Inc. (U.S.), Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, Inc. (U.S.), Carestream Health, Inc. (U.S.), Cerner Corporation (U.S.), Epic (U.S.), GE Healthcare (U.K.), McKesson Corporation (U.S.), MEDITECH (U.S.), NextGen Healthcare Information System LLC (U.S.), Novarad Corporation (U.S.), Philips Healthcare (Netherlands), Siemens Healthcare (Germany), Wolters Kluwer (U.S.), and Zynx Health (U.S.); in 2013, MEDITECH led the market in terms of cumulative installations.

Tilana Introduces Turnkey System Enabling Hosts to Immediately Offer Cloud Storage and Sync

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 29, 2008

Tilana Systems Corporation today announced the availability of a system that allows hosts to use Linux or Windows servers to immediately offer cloud storage directly to end-users or through a sales channel. The system has a provisioning API for integration with existing billing and support systems.

“The Tilana RealCDP system enables the immediate implementation of cloud storage while providing the customer trusted and distributed infrastructure already implemented by the hosting community,” said Joe Austin, Tilana CEO. “Developers and their customers can work with the specific benefits of a hosting company that provides accessibility to data with an immediately available set of initial apps.”

At the Tilana partner Web site (http://partner.tilana.com), hosts can learn all about partnering with Tilana to offer fully custom branded SaaS featuring cloud based multiple PC auto-sync, real-time automatic CDP backup, and a web accessible Personal Digital Archive.

Fully documented Tilana Cloud APIs (http://cloud.tilana.com) are also freely available to hosts or developers, for quickly building and launching custom Web applications and desktop software that interface directly with Tilana RealCDP enabled servers and storage.

Specific APIs allow for direct access to different features available in either the client (PC/Mac/Mobile) or server side (data center) components of the Tilana Cloud server-based data protection, sync, and archive system.

Simple applications with fewer UI capabilities are also easily produced with Tilana. The depth of integration in custom built applications that use Tilana technology is left completely up to the developer.

Storage scaling is easy with Tilana RealCDP because the system can instantly span a CDP object across multiple storage servers.

Tilana RealCDP installs on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2000, and uses Microsoft SQL Server 2005 for databases to store user owned content and user authentication data, which can span across multiple storage databases, on multiple storage servers, with no need for multiple installations of Tilana RealCDP.

Microsoft IIS 6.0 with ASP.net 2.0 is required to implement the web access portion of the Tilana user interface.

More information about Tilana RealCDP is available on the Tilana enterprise Web site (http://enterprise.tilana.com).

The new beta version of Tilana RealCDP for Linux currently installs on Red Hat Enterprise 5.x, and requires MySQL v5.x on the server for end user authentication and scalable user owned content storage.

Interested beta testers can sign up at the company Web site (http://enterprise.tilana.com/beta).

The desktop software called Tilana Client for Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 2000, can be fully co-branded or white labeled and includes encrypted real time CDP, folder and file synchronization across multiple computers, unlimited versioning, all through a secure and Web accessible Personal Digital Archive on the Tilana RealCDP enabled server.

The Mac OS X version of Tilana Client, currently in development, automatically syncs content from Mac to PC and back, while continuously backing up to the Tilana RealCDP enabled server in between. Unlimited version history is saved on the server where it is continuously updated with each change saved on either OS. Files stored on the server as backup copies, or as offloaded archive, remain there until manually deleted by the user.

The Tilana Client desktop software installs in about a minute and requires little if any configuration. Users can choose to enable an unlimited number of computers with the software, and then selectively protect and/or synchronize files and folders on those computers via their Personal Digital Archive on servers enabled with Tilana RealCDP.

To learn about partnership opportunities with Tilana Systems, and to apply as a partner, visit the Tilana partner Web site (http://partner.tilana.com).

About Tilana Systems Corporation:

San Diego based Tilana Systems Corporation brings true value to cloud storage, by providing continuous data protection, permanent archival, web & mobile access, version history, and multi-computer synchronization on one balanced, quickly deployed, versatile, and extensible online CDP data protection and storage based synchronization platform.

Storage systems built on the Tilana Cloud platform provide end users the best kind of data protection, with encrypted true real time CDP (“Continuous Data Protection” from automated schedule-free immediate backup transfers), automated multi-computer content synchronization, and secure remote archive, with unlimited version history that enables instant any-point-in-time content recovery from PCs, Web browsers, and mobile devices.

Cloud Server Hosting Provider, GoGrid, States Windows is its Preferred Cloud Operating System Compared to Linux

San Francisco, CA (Vocus) October 13, 2008

Cloud Server Hosting provider, GoGrid, which has been providing Windows 2003 Servers in the Cloud since March 2008, confirms strong demand for Windows in the Cloud. Windows Cloud Servers accounts for approximately two-thirds of all Cloud servers deployed by customers within the GoGrid infrastructure.

GoGrid Windows Cloud Servers saw enthusiastic adoption since the initial launch of GoGrid in March with Windows Server 2003. In mid-August 2008, GoGrid was first to market with Windows Server 2008 in the Cloud. GoGrid parent company, ServePath, is a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner and SAS70 Type II certified which includes the GoGrid products as well.

GoGrid will be exhibiting at the upcoming Microsoft Professional Developers Conference 2008 (PDC) where it will announce exciting developments and features specifically targeted towards Windows developers. The PDC is Microsoft’s premier gathering of leading-edge developers and architects and is the event to learn about the future of the Microsoft platform, exchange ideas with fellow professionals and hear about upcoming Microsoft Server related products.

GoGrid provides Cloud Hosting solutions for Windows developers and partners with a wide variety of Windows 2003/2008 Cloud Servers. On GoGrid, Windows Servers can be instantly provisioned with options that include:

32 and 64-bit Windows Server 2008
32-bit Windows Server 2003
IIS 6.0 & 7.0
ASP.NET
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express, Workgroup and Standard Editions

“The demand for providing Windows in the Cloud is incredible” says GoGrid CEO, John Keagy, adding “Back in March, 2008, it was critical for us to launch a complete Cloud infrastructure in order to capitalize on that tremendous Windows demand. GoGrid is currently the only Cloud Infrastructure Provider offering a complete Windows environment in the Cloud.”

Keagy’s statements have been echoed by Paul Sterling, 2008/2009 Umbraco MVP and principal of Motus Connect who was searching for a Cloud provider to support Umbraco, a Windows-only Content Management System (CMS) based on Microsoft’s ASP.NET.

“We’re thrilled with the ‘you can do this now’ state of Umbraco on GoGrid” said Sterling, evangelist for Umbraco as a platform. “We looked at all the offerings and found that only GoGrid provides the flexibility to run the Umbraco web services on IIS/Windows and the Umbraco database on mySQL/Linux.”

Because Windows users and developers frequently leverage the rich Windows user interface, GoGrid web-based portal provides the familiar and easy-to-use environment that Windows users are accustomed to. The GoGrid Graphical User Interface (GUI) and iconography allows for “point and click” deployment of complex, instant and flexible network infrastructures, which includes free load balancing and multiple web and database servers, and, coming soon: Cloud Storage. Of particular interest to Microsoft partners is GoGrid’s public Application Programming Interface (API) which developers and partners utilize to programmatically control their GoGrid infrastructure and that of their clients.

About GoGrid (http://www.gogrid.com):

GoGrid is the leading Cloud Computing, hosted, Internet service that delivers true “Control in the Cloud.” GoGrid enables system administrators, developers, IT professionals and SaaS (Software as a Service) vendors to create, deploy, and control load balanced cloud servers and complex hosted virtual server networks with full root access and administrative server control. ZacWare and GoGrid Partner to Deliver the Revolutionary Jentla Multisite Content Management System in the Cloud

San Francisco, CA (Vocus) May 12, 2009

Today, GoGrid, the Cloud Computing division of ServePath, LLC, and ZacWare, a leader in true multi-site CMS solutions, announced a new technology partnership to provide a product and service offering for organizations needing to host, manage and maintain 2 to over 10,000 individual websites from one central management system. Jentla, ZacWare’s best-in-class multisite CMS based on Joomla, allows the development community to rapidly build, scale and maintain sophisticated websites, increasing profitability through efficiencies of Cloud hosting and CMS management in the process.

Deploying scalable, reliable applications from scratch in a cloud environment is a time consuming and expensive task. As a result, most organizations do not have the expertise or resources to deploy and manage multi-site content management systems cost effectively and according to industry best practices. With Jentla’s platform in conjunction with GoGrid’s cloud infrastructure, any organization can easily tap the enormous power of cloud computing for an affordable, “pay-as-you-go” site development infrastructure. Jentla’s offerings provide rapid deployment, a dynamically scalable infrastructure to meet new site development demand, and require minimal resources using automated tools and one centralized management system for easy control.

To provide Joomla developers with maximum flexibility Jentla has three major configurations:

Full SaaS model – both the Jentla manager and their client sites are hosted with GoGrid,
Blended model – the Jentla manager is hosted as a SaaS application on GoGrid and the managed sites are either self-hosted or hosted on GoGrid’s cloud infrastructure,
Self Hosted model – Jentla is self-hosted on a client’s server and they host their sites themselves.

Jentla and GoGrid’s SaaS hosted solution gets customers up and running fast. In this model, the Jentla manager is hosted in GoGrid’s cloud, allowing customers to choose whether they wish to manage their sites from Jentla’s cloud environment (without changing their current site location) or import their sites into Jentla and host them with GoGrid. Either way, clients enjoy the benefits and scalability of Jentla with the flexibility of GoGrid’s cloud hosting expertise.

“We have seen a tremendous and enthusiastic interest from the Joomla community and developers who are receiving requests for multi-site solutions as Joomla makes its way into the Enterprise. In the current economy, Jentla is the right solution for reducing costs and bringing the whole web presence under centralized control. The full SaaS Jentla offering on GoGrid, is the fastest and most economical way for a developer to build and launch hundreds of complex CMS sites and keep them under a centralized management system.” said Damian Hickey, Founder and Director of Jentla. “GoGrid brings a track record of hosting and infrastructure expertise and has the industry awards to prove it. We look forward to working closely with them as this nascent market continues to take off.”

“We’ve been impressed with what Jentla brings to the market and see a lot of growth happening in the enterprise sector of the cloud computing market, starting right here in Silicon Valley,” said GoGrid CEO, John Keagy. “It’s also a big reason we’ve expanded from traditional hosting to include a cloud architecture customers want more flexibility, and that ‘right now’ scalable capability that GoGrid and Jentla provide.”

GoGrid delivers portal-controlled servers for Windows 2003 and 2008, multiple Linux operating systems and supports application environments like Ruby on Rails. GoGrid is unique in cloud computing with the availability of 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows Server 2008; and was named winner of LinuxWorld 2008 “Best of Show” in August. Together, GoGrid and Jentla will provide joint cloud solutions that are elegant and bring power, control and scalability to business customers.

The first joint solution for Jentla on GoGrid will be available in Q2 2009. For details on pricing and different product options, contact GoGrid at 1-877-946-4743 or via live chat at http://www.GoGrid.com. GoGrid, a leader in Cloud Computing Infrastructure Hosting and the Cloud Computing division of ServePath, LLC, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc., in the Visionaries quadrant in the “Magic Quadrant for Web Hosting and Cloud Infrastructure Services (On Demand)” report.

Gartner evaluated each provider against five use cases, specifically: Self-managed hosting, mainstream managed hosting, highly complex managed hosting, global solutions portfolio and enterprise applications hosting in order to produce a composite rating.

“We think our positioning in the visionaries quadrant is validation of our industry-leading cloud computing technology. GoGrid pioneered cloud computing before any other leading hosting company was in the game. We continue to offer a more complete hybrid hosting solution consisting of on-demand cloud infrastructure and robust managed hosting environments,” said GoGrid CEO and Co-Founder, John Keagy. “We think this will position us well to promote our technology as a standard in the field that lends itself manageability, scalability and portability of computing environments around the globe.”

The “Magic Quadrant for Web Hosting and Cloud Infrastructure Services (On Demand)” report is available currently on the GoGrid home page.

GoGrid is the only Cloud Infrastructure vendor that supports the automated instantiation of Windows Server 2003 and 2008, CentOS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Cloud servers through a user-friendly GUI or the GoGrid API. Customers can instantly deploy servers and quickly and easily create cloudcenters (datacenters-in-the-sky) using a variety of tools and features that are included in GoGrid, including free hardware-based F5 load balancing, Cloud servers, Cloud Storage, public and private networks and Cloud Connect, which enables Cloud infrastructures to be connected to dedicated or colocated backend environments via private, dedicated megabit connections.

Cloud Connect handles database servers, transcoding and statistical analysis environments on custom, managed hardware with the power and I/O to perform well. Entire cloudcenters on GoGrid are easily controlled and managed by an industry-recognized web interface or programmatically via a REST-like API.

GoGrid offers customers including startups, small/medium businesses, government and enterprises, the ability to provision, scale and manage complex and robust server networks and infrastructures quickly and easily in the Cloud.

NewCloud Networks Utilizes its Virtual Private Data Center Service as a Disaster Recovery System for Mid-Market Businesses

(PRWEB) March 31, 2014

NewCloud Networks, a Denver-based Cloud Computing and Communications provider, recently released its newest solution, the Virtual Private Data Center (vPDC) to mid-market businesses and has since, found multiple uses for the service, including utilizing the service as a disaster recovery solution.

Our business is growing in the mid-market and the Virtual Private Data Center has proven to be our most versatile solution. We realized shortly after releasing the solution that it could not only be used as an alternative to physical server infrastructure or as a hybrid cloud solution, but that we could leverage our recent data center expansion and use vPDC as a disaster recovery solution as well, said Sam Kumar, President of NewCloud Networks.

NewClouds primary data center is located in the Denver Tech Center in Colorado. The area is considered geographically secure, making it an ideal location for businesses to host their data. The company has attained both HIPAA compliance and SOC 2 Type 1 certification, allowing for the hosting of sensitive data including medical records. NewCloud has a secondary data center location in Phoenix, Arizona. We began expanding our data center footprint in order to provide true redundancy and disaster recovery to our customers. In order to provide true disaster recovery, it is essential that the data centers are located a minimum of 500 miles apart. At such a distance, it is highly unlikely that a single natural disaster will impact both sites, says Kumar.

The opening of NewClouds Phoenix data center and the launch of the Virtual Private Data Center made the solution ideal for disaster recovery. Businesses now have the option of hosting their services in Phoenix or Denver and have the added option of backing up their environment in a second location. In the coming months, NewCloud will implement more data center locations in geographically disparate locations across the country. Kumar states, Our goal is to make close-proximity Cloud Computing services available to every region of the country, and to provide disaster recovery services in an area of their choice as well.

The current data center locations are tied together with a 10 Gig MPLS backbone, separate from the public Internet, making the NewCloud service more secure than the average multitenant Cloud provider. Businesses seeking Cloud infrastructure services as well as disaster recovery services should contact NewCloud Networks directly at 855-255-5001.

MannKind Corporation Implements BioPharm Systems Siebel Clinical Trial Management System Accelerator to Support Growing Product Pipeline

San Mateo, CA (PRWEB) July 23, 2013

MannKind Corporation has implemented BioPharm Systems ASCEND, a pre-configured and enhanced version of Oracles Siebel Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS), to support its growing biopharmaceutical product pipeline. ASCEND is replacing MannKinds existing commercial CTMS, which no longer meets the needs of their clinical operations team. In addition to choosing ASCEND, MannKind also elected to leverage BioPharms cloud hosting platform and managed services in order to reduce costs and save time.

In addition to the implementation of the base version of ASCEND, MannKind has identified a set of custom configurations, as well as integrations with their electronic data capture (EDC) systems, Oracle Clinical (OC) and Remote Data Capture (RDC), to be included in their first release of ASCEND. Despite these complexities, BioPharm is providing MannKind with a quick return on investment (ROI) by managing the project with its “rolling release” approach, in which each of the work streams are executed in parallel, yet still under validation control. This innovative strategy is enabling MannKind to begin benefiting from ASCEND before all of the work streams have been completed.

One of the key areas of ASCEND that MannKind has chosen to customize is the site payments process. Prior to ASCEND, MannKind managed all site payments manually, including complexities like withholding percentages, site advances, and overhead costs. Working together, MannKind and BioPharm have designed a solution that makes use of Siebel Clinicals existing functionality plus a few intelligent enhancements, resulting in a system that supports a fully automated site payments process.

“Ive managed many Siebel Clinical and ASCEND implementations over the years, and I have to commend MannKind on their approach to this project,” said Param Singh, vice president of clinical trial management solutions, BioPharm Systems. “So many companies try to over-engineer their CTMS solutions, but MannKind really saw the value in a pre-configured accelerator and opted not to reinvent the wheel, but rather to take full advantage of the best practices built into ASCEND, with just a handful of thoughtful customizations.”

BioPharm is a Gold level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) and an Oracle Accelerate solution provider. The company has achieved Specializations in Oracle Argus Safety Suite, Oracle Life Sciences Data Hub, and Oracle Accelerate for Midsize Companies.
