Port80 Software Releases ServerDefender VP Web Application Firewall for Amazon Web Services

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) August 22, 2013

Port80 Software’s launch marks the first Web application firewall built for Windows Servers on AWS. The advanced ServerDefender VP Web application firewall comes on Windows Server 2008 and 2012 instances and is available to launch from the AWS Marketplace. This advancement provides a more secure way to host apps on Microsoft IIS in the cloud.

ServerDefender VPs availability on AWS addresses security concerns when using cloud hosting for sites and applications. Unlike traditional hardware Web application firewalls, ServerDefender VP is a host-based software Web application firewall. This makes it ideal for installation directly on a cloud instance to analyze traffic before requests can hit a site. As a Web application firewall, ServerDefender VP can help address PCI-DSS compliance and HIPAA compliance.

Port80 Software has been building security software for Microsoft IIS since 2002. Its portfolio of Web security products include ServerDefender VP, ServerMask, and LinkDeny.

Advanced Security Policy – ServerDefender VP does not rely on a list of attack signatures to identify and block attacks. Rather, it uses rules-based policies and a combination of black and white lists to detect and stop known and unknown zero day threats.

Configurable Security Settings – Granular controls allow for a highly-customizable security profile. ServerDefender VP provides protection from the OWASP Top 10 Web Threats, as well as controls for input validation, IP blocking, error throttling, bot policy, resource management, and more.

Traffic monitoring and interrogation – Monitors all requests and interrogates them for malicious activity. ServerDefender VPs sessionization tracks and scores users behavior as they traverse the site. Serious offenses are weighted more heavily than less serious offenses.

Interactive Log Viewer – The LogViewer is the monitoring hub for investigating, taking action against, and visualizing threats hitting your site. With the LogViewer tool, users can easily sort, filter, and interact with threats in real-time to determine their authenticity and block IPs to prevent further attacks, or create exceptions to allow legitimate users to pass.

ServerDefender VP Web application firewall for AWS is currently available with Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2012 on any EC2 instance type. More information on requirements can be found here. Licensing for the software will be $ .30/hour across all EC2 instance types.

Founded in 2002, Port80 Software develops tools to enhance performance and security for Microsoft IIS servers. Port80’s advanced, yet user-friendly products aim to help system administrators, IT professionals, and information security professionals achieve their Web security and performance goals and requisite compliance. Port80’s compression and caching tools httpZip, CacheRight, and ZipEnable allow users to unlock their sites potential by improving performance. through rules based software technology. Port80’s Web security tools provide anti-leaching, server anonymization, and Web application protection.

Halyard Consulting Discusses the Amazon Fire and Risks of Showrooming

Jersey City, NJ (PRWEB) July 10, 2014

In this week’s podcast of The World of Internet Marketing, Jonathan Goodman, president of Halyard Consulting, spoke about Amazons new smartphone the Amazon Fire. He specifically focused on one feature that is part of the Fire, the Firefly, and its impact on small retail businesses.

The Amazon Fire has just been released and one of the features it touts is Firefly. It allows you to take photos of various items, from business cards to billboards to products, and access information about that item on your phone in just seconds.

Goodman stated that with Firefly you can save items to your Wish List on Amazon or order the product from Amazon right from your phone. He believes that people using the Fire will take business away from the Mom and Pop stores and that those stores will start to look more like museums where people go to visit and see what is in the marketplace but ultimately purchase through Amazon.

Goodman went on to say that Amazon can afford to sell lower than the competition because of its size. As a multi-billion dollar company, it has the advantage over small businesses that are just trying to survive. He sees the phone as another way for Amazon to monopolize the retail industry. This phone could not only effect small retailers but large box stores like Walmart.

Another feature of the Fire that Goodman was concerned with was the photo storage in Amazon Cloud. While it provides convenience for the users it also benefits Amazon. Amazon will have access to the photos allowing their system to understand a person’s location, interests, and connections.

Amazon Fire was released June 18th and is exclusive with AT&T. It includes a full year of Prime and comes in either 32GB or 64GB. It is the first smartphone from Amazon, but it joins a list of other electronic products, including Kindle and Kindle Fire. It remains to be seen how the new Fire will fare in today’s market.

BitNami Buys Amazon Web Services

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 1, 2011

Leading online cloud vendor BitNami today announced it has acquired Amazon Web Services, a division of Amazon.com the world’s leading online retailer. The acquisition brings together two companies who share a passion for serving customers and whose customers benefit from cultures of innovation and long term thinking.

BitNami makes it easy for developers and solution providers to deploy and manage popular open source applications natively, virtually and in the cloud. It’s flagship product, BitNami Cloud Hosting provides one-click deployment, backup and monitoring capabilities for cloud applications. BitNami expects the AWS acquisition to give the company a competitive advantage in the increasingly crowded cloud server management space.

“Customers are increasingly demanding vertically-integrated solutions,” mentioned Erica Brescia, CEO of BitNami. “We believe the acquisition of an infrastructure vendor will help us provide our customers with a more streamlined experience and accelerate our growth.”

“It was about time somebody recognized the value AWS has created in the Cloud ecosystem”, commented Verner Wogels, Amazon CTO. “We are excited to join the BitNami team. These guys know how to make this stuff simple, so hopefully they will help us fix the Amazon console. To be honest with you, with so many acronyms and options it is becoming hard to figure out what every button is supposed to do.”

“Amazon is a tremendously successful company, but with so many different product lines, we were starting to lose our focus” added Beff Jezos, Amazon CEO. “Spinning out the Amazon Web Services unit will allow us to concentrate on our core ecommerce business.”

“Holly freaking sh*t dude! That is awesome. No, really, dude, awesome,” mentioned MindTouch CEO and BitNami advisor Aaron Fulkerson.

The acquisition provides BitNami with access to two new upcoming services: Amazon Coffee Machine API and Amazon Elastic Laundry Service, designed to make coffee in the morning and provide laundry services for AWS users, about the only two remaining services left to be implemented by Amazon in addition to the upcoming Amazon Pony and Amazon Kitchen Sink services, rumored to be in private beta.

Following the acquisition, the Amazon management team will remain intact and BitNami will operate its successful brand, customer experience and unique culture of service independently with headquarters in Seattle, WA.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but apparently some heavy drinking and Spanish tapas were involved.
